Golf Driving Instruction Made Easy

Welcome to the no-nonsense approach to playing golf like a pro. Let us just hope that all those golf supply companies have not tricked you into buying that legendary golf ball or that magical golf swat yet.

If that is the case, congratulations, you are on your way towards becoming a smart golfer. You have passed the first test! So you are definitely interested in golf to be smart enough about it. Although you may be relatively new to the game, you probably know the basics.

However, you might be having issues right now with driving a golf ball so you want to learn proper instructions for golf driving, right? This article will help steer you in the right direction, but first one very important requirement. Free your mind right now from any misconceptions, which you may have about proper golf driving.

Do it! If you do not, this article will not be able to help you at all. Think as if you are learning golf for the very first time and remember, like that great Samurai teacher once said, “Too many mind”. Yes, let all that golf crap out of your head and start fresh with profound focus, forget the baby or your wife in the mall for a while.

Forget Robert Redford in The Natural. Time to let go of the idea that it takes brute force to drive a golf ball well, which is so untrue! This is what is messing up your golf game in the first place. Think Newtonian now and the laws of physics like gravity, velocity, inertia, etc. Then, only then will you win at the game of golf, and your back, shoulder, hips and knees will thank you for it, even chiropractors will agree.

Good work, like Pavlov’s dog, there are only two switches in your mind right now. And the two switches are called Alignment and Swing, the only two things crucial to driving that golf ball well.

Alignment is simply all about how you position yourself as a winner in the golf playing field. Stand behind the ball, and then make a quarter circle to the left to reach the ball. As you turn to the ball and plant your right foot pointing an inch or so right of it, extend your arms and sole your club behind it. Set the clubface square (vertical) to your intermediate aiming spot.

Now, draw a mental line on the ground from the spot back to the ball and a little beyond. Congratulations, you just drew the outer right stick of the letter H!

Next, it is time to draw a mental line from the bottom edge of the club straight back toward your feet. Since the clubface is vertical to your aiming line, this line is also vertical to it. This is the ball position reference line, the center cross line of your mind-drawn letter H.

Finally, draw a mental line straight across the center line. This is now the inside or left line of the H, this is where you toe the line so to speak. With your feet firmly planted, make sure to square up your knees, hips, shoulders, and eyes over your toe line, which is parallel left, and square to your aiming line.

At this point, it is important not to change your feet position by keeping them firmly on the ground. To help you remember this, just remind yourself that you are here to drive a golf ball, not to go ballroom dancing with some hot chick!

And now for the “swing” component of golfing with the stars, here is the secret: hit the center of the club face every time! Failing to do this, you will totally change the “constellation” of your swing much like changing the rotation of the Earth in Galilean physics. It is not exactly doomsday but a definite loss for you, because you will never hit the golf ball long and straight, ever.

That is how you drive the golf ball like a winner. Simple enough? Bottom-line is any golfing problem can be traced to either the swing or the alignment switch. There are only two ways you can go wrong, so always watch yourself!

Free Golf Tips (NEW!) - Golf is a cruel mistress: One day, you’re striking the ball well, sinking all your putts, and you leave the course walking on air, thinking you’ve finally worked out all the kinks in your game. The next day you return, and from the moment you tee off at the first hole, nothing goes right; you’re hitting into sand traps, three-putting again and again, and you’re pretty sure you’ll never want to go back. But you always do...

Golf Swing Tips - There's not a beginner out there who has had major problems getting the all important swing down to a science. (Well, OK, we've all seen those home movies of Tiger Woods when he was two years old and even though his golf clubs were a foot taller than he was, this little tyke could drive and putt as well as Jack Nicklaus.) Some of us are born with a perfect swing and the first time on the course it's obvious. For the record, the rest of us hate you all...

Golf Slice Tips - It’s not nice to slice. When you slice, you lose balls, you lose your temper, and inevitably, in trying to cure your slice, you end up slicing even worse. Then you lose your mind. But there is a cure. Before you go nuts from your chronic slice, try focusing on these three simple swing thoughts...

Tips For Golf - On golf courses the world over, golfers continue to play, look to improve, and try to find the elusive tips for golf that will hopefully unlock their golfing potential. Whether they’re planning on changing their swing, purchasing better golf clubs, changing their attire, or trying to improve on their fitness, all because they sense that they may have hit a plateau. This same problem happened to me and probably every other golfer at one point in their life. I continued with my frustrations unbeknown for the several years until that is, I discovered one of the greatest tips for golf perhaps I have ever seen...

Fed Ex Cup - An early vacation is no longer an option for many of the Professional Golfers’ Association’s top players. Golf’s new schedule in 2007 encourages the PGA Tour’s pros to compete to the very end of the season, rather than take a break after the last major (the PGA Championship) is played in early August. In years past, the PGA Championship was the last stop for many elite golfers until the season started again in earnest in January. Five more tournaments are usually scheduled after the PGA Championship. The PGA Championship, in the past, was a golfer’s last chance to gain exemption status for the Tour with a victory in that tournament. The advent of the FedEx Cup gives golfers additional opportunities to gain exempt status and establish themselves as the true elite of the game. The FedEx Cup encourages the players to stick around...

Golf Backswing - A best-case scenario evolved from a worst-case embarrassment on the golf course the other day. My horrendous play at the start of the round resulted in some valuable backswing tips from my playing partners. When we started, I executed my backswing on a drive, lifted my head to see where the ball would fly upon contact, and followed through as if I was swinging a baseball bat. The ball skipped on top of the grass like a hockey puck...

Putting Tips - Anyone can putt. It is the simplest form of golf. That’s why children can challenge their parents in a putt-putt game. How ever simple a putt might seem it still strikes fear into the most skilled golfers in the world. Long-time PGA Tour golfer Tom Lehman has endured a victory drought primarily because of his putting game. He has attempted to regain his putting touch by switching between the traditional putter and a long putter. The mind has played tricks on him, and when a golfer allows the mind to get in way, the results are undesirable...
